Nougat Festival – Cremona
November 9th to 17th, 2024, nine days in Cremona to celebrate Nougat
Cremona is the home of Nougat (Torrone in Italian) and that’s why the town celebrates it during The Torrone Festival (Nougat Festival) taking place this year from November 9th to 17th, 2024
The name “torrone” seems to originate from the cake created for the wedding banquet of Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Visconti in 1441 reproducing the Torrazzo, the second-highest bell tower in Italy (112 meters) and symbol of the city. During the Nougat festival, the historical reenactment of the Sforza Visconti wedding is celebrated>>>
During the Nougat Festival, the whole historic center is animated for 9 days by dozens of stands where it is possible to taste the nougat in a thousand forms: from gourmet recipes to walking ice cream, from preparations with pistachios, chocolate, coffee, limoncello to more savory recipes, and artisan nougat with the highest quality natural ingredients.
A vibrant program that also usually includes guided visits to the beauties of Cremona.
Since 2008, the “Golden Torrone” award rewards the Cremonese who have distinguished themselves in the arts and culture. It was received in the past by the dancer Carla Fracci, the actor Gian Marco Tognazzi, the footballer Gianluca Vialli, the journalist Beppe Severgnini, the Olympic champion Antonio Rossi, the comedian Enzo Iachetti.
