Station of the Cross – Claut (Pordenone)
April 18th, 2025 The religious procession of Good Friday, in the province of Pordenone.
On April 18th, 2025 – Good Friday – the municipality of Claut, in the province of Pordenone, represents the Passion of Christ with the Via Crucis (Station of the Cross) procession.
Jesus Christ, the main character of Via Crucis procession, is embodied by a barefoot man dressed in white robes, covered with a hood, and supporting a cross on his shoulder.
The procession stops 14 times to celebrate the 14 stations that mark Christ’s ascent toward Mount Golgota. The stations are represented with real figures, adults and kids, who recall the different phases of Christ’s Passion.
The Station of the cross ends with a representation of the crucifixion of Christ and the two thieves.
On Good Friday, the houses, courtyards, and windows of the village of Claut are illuminated with red lights and candles while the streets are illuminated with flashlights and burning braziers.
The Via Crucis proceeds with the sound of the Batatocs, a wooden instrument which sound is similar to the drum, representing in a symbolic way the drums that follow through Jesus in the crucifixion.
