From September 11th to 15th, 2024 in Diamante takes place the Peperoncino Festival, an event dedicated to the typical Chili pepper of Calabria: food, debates, and meetings concerning His Majesty, the chili pepper. This year it is held

The Peperoncino Festival, now at its 32nd edition, was created by the journalist Enzo Monaco in 1992, the year of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Americas. 

Diamante, a small town near Cosenza, has been chosen as the location for the 5 days dedicated to this umissable product of the cuisine in Calabria region.

During the festival ,it is possible to know deeply the history of the Chili pepper (a vegetable coming from America),to tasteit and to discover all of its 500 varieties.

Among the specialties based on peperoncino: the “hot” salami Nduja di Spilinga

The Peperoncino Festival includes:
– photographic exhibition,
– conferences,
– cabaret and satire,
– music and shows;
– culinary specialties based on Chili peppers.

Folkloristic groups, waders, tightrope walkers and street artists enliven the sea village, the boardwalk and riverside from 7 pm.
