Chestnut Feast in Soriano del Cimino

On the first 3 October weekends, 2024 in Soriano nel Cimino, in the Province of Viterbo, takes place the Chestnut Feast.

The origin of the Chestnut Feast dates back to the 15th Century when the City Council established the first celebration in honor of the local specialty: chestnuts.

The current feast, at its 57th edition, took place for the first time in 1968 and it consists of two main sections: the historical reenactment and the celebrations or workshops in honor of the chestnut, the fruit that has nourished the entire rural communities for centuries.

During the Chestnut Feast Soriano is wrapped in a very suggestive atmosphere  and the beautiful decorations give life to commemorative scenes linking facts to the magic.

The program of the Chestnut Feast is filled with historical events: Ring Jousting, Archery Tournaments, Popular traditional games, and the sumptuous historical parade featuring more than 700 actors dressed up in Medieval costumes. As per tradition, the districts’ taverns make traditional and ancient recipes.
