From May 17th to 31st, 2025 it takes place the Palio in Ferrara in memory of the Palio of 1471 when the Marquess Borso d’Este received the investiture as first Duke of Ferrara by Pope Paul II.
The program includes:
– May 17-18, the Ancient Flag Games competition
– Saturday, May 24, the Magnificent Historical Parade
– Saturday, May 31, the night-time Palio races with the Corsa dei Putti, the Corsa delle Putte, the Corsa delle Asine and the Corsa dei Cavalli
During the Palio, the city dresses up with the colors of the districts that will compete for the Palio.
The race is also an opportunity to celebrate and remember the greatness of Ferrara during the Renaissance period, when the city shone among the capitals, in Italy and in Europe.
8 districts of the city participate in the Palio: the four districts within the city walls and four villages outside: San Benedetto, Santa Maria in Vado, San Paolo, San Giacomo, San Giorgio, San Giovanni and San Luca.
