Sardinia is both, a region and an island.
The regional capital is Cagliari, while the other provinces are: Carbonia-Iglesias, Medio Campidano, Nuoro, Ogliastra, Olbia-Tempio, Oristano and Sassari.
The most important are Caglieri, Nuoro, Sassari and Olbia.
Sardinia is a very old land, as it is demonstrated by the Tombs of the Giants and Nuraghes.
It is also a VIP tourist destination in Porto Cervo, Costa Smeralda.
Sardinia can be reached:
– by plane: landing at airports in Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia;
– by ship or ferry. The ports of Cagliari, Porto Torres, Olbia, Arbatax, Golfo Aranci and Santa Teresa di Gallura are connected with Genoa and Savona (Liguria), Livorno (Tuscany), Rome-Civitavecchia (Lazio), Napoli (Campania) and Bonifacio (Corsica) .
